Anita was born and reared in Rhode Island, in a Christian family that gave her a strong, biblical foundation for living. In 1970, when a senior in high school, she met Jim Braden in a local church. They were married the following year and she experienced six years as a submariner’s wife. In 1987, Anita was appointed as a missionary to the military community, with her husband. After three decades in the ministry, she was endorsed by Bible Churches Chaplaincy as a chaplain to veterans.
A 1967 graduate of Cassopolis High School (Cassopolis, Michigan) and a Cold War Submarine Veteran, Jim Braden became a Christian while serving in the US Navy. After a decade of Naval service, he graduated from Lancaster Bible College (1981), was ordained to the Gospel Ministry (1988), and with his wife, has served as a missionary to the military community ever since. in 2011, Jim was endorsed by Bible Churches Chaplaincy as a chaplain to veterans. He and Anita founded Michiana Veterans Ministries in 2015.
